Homes For Our Troops (HFOT) is a non-partisan organization that was founded by John Gonsalves. HFOT has completed homes in CA, GA, LA, MA, NC, PA, TN, and has even teamed up with ABC’s “Extreme Makeover” show. Currently HFOT has homes in progress in MA, CO, CT, DE, CA, FL, MT, NC, NJ, PA, TX, and VA. I first learned about Homes For Our Troops at a home show here in CT. Everything they do is provided completely by volunteers and donations, and every single home is built for a disabled veteran completely free of charge. They need materials, professional volunteers, non-skilled laborers, and of course, donations. Currently they are planning two homes in Coventry , CT. One home is for Sgt. Jared Luce who lost his left leg in Iraq. Sgt. Luce has a wife and 3 young boys. The other home is for Cpl. Brian Johnson who lost his right leg and right arm in Fallujah, Iraq . There are many opportunities to volunteer throughout the country, please consider taking some time to help those who have sacrificed so much for this country.

“Starting up a non-profit organization was an area as far away from supervising construction projects as it gets. It’s been a learning experience, and so rewarding. The outpouring of generous citizens at times is overwhelming. The veterans I have met along the way have touched my heart and I am honored to have them as my friends. Homes For Our Troops is dedicated to building specially adapted homes for disabled veterans, as long as there is a need.” - John Gonsalves

About Homes For Our Troops:

Homes for Our Troops is a non-partisan, non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization that provides specially adapted homes for our severely wounded service members of our military. Through our growing network of donations from building contractors, suppliers, corporate supporters and local volunteers, we are able to provide our assistance at no cost to the veterans that we serve.
