My passion for writing and my desire to see some things instantly published means that I have to keep up with web technology. Nothing has infuriated more throughout this process than Internet Explorer. No matter how many times I test my site in other browsers to be compatible and to get the design I want it, Internet Explorer (IE) manages to screw things up. I’ve even had to adjust IE hacks in my code so that when people view my site from that evil browser, it may work the way it was intended.
From a security standpoint - Explorer is the only web browser, that I am aware of, that will automatically install software just by pulling up a page. If you’ve ever tried to un-install any version of IE, I’m sure you know how impossible that actually is (Microsoft has control over this functions and integrates the browser into its operating system). Microsoft has been taken to task about IE automatically coming with their Windows operating system but organizations like Netscape just couldn’t compete. Luckily there is an open source movement called Mozilla.
Open source programming allows recognized developers to enhance programs that compete against the Seattle based giant. These programs are free and have to be altered for commercial use. Mozilla is a serious web community and as you can imagine, there are major Microsoft competitors lending their best minds to the project.
I’m fed up to the point that I have to encourage you all to do yourself a favor and browse the web with a far superior tool. Feel free to use the button below to install Mozilla’s Firefox for free:
